For the CMNS 150 photo essay, I photographed my good friend Mariah participating at a Cadboro-Gyro Park Beach clean-up organized by Surfrider Vancouver Island, a non-profit environment organization that focuses on protecting and preserving the world's ocean, waves and beaches. Throughout the clean-up, I documented Surfrider's tent showcasing all of the trash that can be found on the beaches as well as the rubbish that Mariah had found throughout the afternoon. At the end of the clean-up, I snapped photos of the pile of garbage that all of the volunteers came up with. Included in this pile were different types of plastics, an old wooden chest that previously belonged to a captain, Styrofoam varying in size, various metal objects and cigarette butts. Success!
